SEN Teaching Assistant - Make a Meaningful Impact!
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £19,370.70 - £21,122.66, based on experience)
Hours: 37 hours per week - Term Time Only
Are you dedicated to supporting young individuals with special educational needs? We are looking for enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work with students aged 11-19 who have a range of complex needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and communication difficulties. Key Responsibilities:
1. Learning Support: Collaborate with teachers to foster an engaging and positive learning environment.
2. Personalised Assistance: Offer targeted support in small groups or one-on-one, tailored to each student's sensory and communication requirements.
3. Build Supportive Relationships: Develop trusting connections with students, ensuring they feel safe, included, and valued.
4. Encourage Positive Behaviour: Implement innovative strategies to promote positive behaviour, adapting your approach to meet each student's needs.
5. Personal Care Support: Assist students with personal care tasks as needed, always respecting their dignity and privacy.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience working with SEN students (paid or voluntary).
2. Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred but not essential).
3. GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
4. Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
5. A creative and flexible approach to supporting diverse learning needs.
