Clinical or Technical Responsibilities
1. Undertake comprehensive assessments of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multipathologies.
2. Use investigative and analytical skills to assess complex patients and support other more junior therapists with their patients as required.
3. Devise individualised physiotherapy management and/or treatment plans using clinical reasoning skills.
Leadership or Managerial Responsibilities
1. Attend all relevant training to maintain competency and confidence.
2. Be responsible for and actively record your own personal development, including participation in journal clubs, clinical reasoning, and problem patient sessions as participant and facilitator.
3. Participate in the appraisal process as appraisee and appraiser.
4. Disseminate any training received to other staff and health care professionals.
5. Supervise Band 5 Physiotherapists on rotation, Students, and Assistants as required.
Service Improvement
1. Make recommendations for changes in practice leading to service improvement.
2. Be involved with implementing policy and service development changes.
3. Demonstrate physical ability to carry out assessments and interventions, including moving and handling techniques.
Communications and Engagement
1. Communicate highly complex information sensitively to patients to gain their cooperation for treatment and valid consent.
2. Communicate effectively with all disciplines involved in a patient's care to ensure efficient multidisciplinary working.
3. Use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to effectively progress treatment programmes.
4. Manage frequently highly stressful, upsetting, or emotional situations empathetically.
5. Maintain accurate records in line with professional body (CSP), Trust, and service standards and policies.
General Responsibilities
1. Support the department and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonably fit within the broad scope of the job.
2. Be responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of self and others at work.
3. Report incidents and near misses; participate in the risk management process; attend all mandatory training courses as defined by trust policy.
4. Ensure confidentiality at all times, releasing confidential information only to those acting in an official capacity.
5. Comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
