Head of Financial Reporting Job Profile Overall Purpose and Aim of Job Role As Head of Financial Reporting you will be responsible for producing accurate, consistent and efficient production of the group-wide financial reporting. The role reports directly to the Head of Finance and as its number two. Whilst the role does not have a budgetary responsibility, you will have responsibility for some direct reports from within the finance team and be required to liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders and is considered a senior position within the finance team. Roles & Responsibilities – Key Tasks Financial Reporting: - Ensure consistent, efficient, accurate, compliant and timely production of group-wide financial reporting. This includes but is not limited to: Individual and consolidated Management Accounts with full Balance Sheet, Statutory accounts, VAT returns, Board Reports with variance analysis and Cash Flow Statements. - Presentation of Business Reviews to individual business units on their performance and highlighting any areas of concern. - Provide costing analysis around machine utilisation and labour hours Budgeting & Forecasting: - Oversee the preparation and management of budgets and forecasts on a periodic basis liaising with individual business heads. - Prepare the weekly stack chart report for distribution - Lead on weekly credit control Process Improvement and Cost Management: - Champion, identify and implement process improvements within the Financial Reporting process, both from a control and efficiency perspective with a view to improving the current reporting timetable. - Identify opportunities for cost savings across the group Team Leadership: - Opportunity to lead and develop a high performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. - Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to support their professional development. General: - Work closely with internal stakeholders including the operational teams, to ensure usability of the reports and add both context and meaning to the financial reports produced and attending internal meetings as and when required. - Liaise directly with external stakeholders, including but not limited to external auditors, HMRC and the bank. - Training of finance team, and provision of training when required to the wider organisation. - Accurate and timely implementation of changes to regulation. Including but not limited to: Changes in accounting standards and changes in HMRC legislation. Person Specification Technical/IT and Education Requirements Essential Fully qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) or equivalent with minimum 3 years PQ experience Experience of working within an engineering/manufacturing environment to understand costings and project WIP High level of attention to detail and organisation Current, detailed knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP and practical experience of group reporting (including consolidation), and application IFRS 15 in a project-based environment Fully proficient in Microsoft Office Valid holder of a UK Drivers Licence with your own vehicle Desirable Experience of foreign subsidiary accounting Knowledge of Access Dimensions Accounting Software Knowledge of Sequel Reporting and Crystal Reports Competencies Essential level of competency Experience of working to SLAs Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to challenge, influence, negotiate and partner with multiple and varied stakeholder groups Significant experience in process optimisation, and pro-active in continued process improvements Strong analytical skills Strong technical accounting knowledge Desirable level of competency Company Requirements Process • To follow company policies • To work within the ISO9901 and ISO14001 standards • To ensure the confidentiality and data protection is respected and always maintained. • To comply with statutory provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and any Company policy in regard to health and safety including the wearing of PPE General • To perform any other duties as directed by line management which you have the appropriate knowledge to carry out and is safe to complete • The responsibilities outlined above cannot totally encompass or define all tasks, which may be required of the post holder.
