The People Governance & Risk (PG&R) team provides key leadership and subject matter expertise from within the first line of defence in the setting and delivering of Bupa’s framework and approach to regulatory accountability regime applicable to Bupa’s Regulated Entities (REs). The team also provides governance and risk support to the Insurance and Functions People team, partnering with key stakeholders across Bupa.
The Senior Governance & Risk Manager role, reporting to the Head of People Governance & Risk, is an integral role in supporting the delivery of governance and risk activities across the Insurance and Functions People team. The role holder will support the end-to-end delivery of the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR). The role holder will also implement sound governance and risk management practices in collaboration with key stakeholders across the Insurance and Functions People team and the business.
Required for this role: Direct business as usual experience with Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR).
You’ll help us make health happen through:
* Defining, delivering, and continuously assessing and improving the maturity of Senior Managers & Certification Regime, particularly the Senior Managers Regime, Certification regime, and Conduct rules requirements.
* Defining, delivering, and continuously assessing and improving the maturity of Solvency II requirements by undertaking governance activities to support compliant onboarding of Key Function Holders and Key Function Performers.
* Providing subject matter expertise on the end-to-end requirements of the Senior Managers Regime, Certification Regime, and Conduct Rules.
* Continuously assessing, improving, and embedding the SMCR framework, policies, processes, and artefacts. Provide subject matter expertise on the implications of organisation design and structure changes on SMCR requirements.
* Collating reliable, relevant, and timely management information for various governance forums and committees.
Key Skills needed for this role:
* Extensive experience and strong understanding of regulatory compliance (prudential/conduct of business), governance, risk management (identification, assessment, measurement, mitigation), and controls (design, assessment).
* Professional experience within an insurance environment or within a highly regulated financial services business environment.
* Financial service experience of working in a governance, risk, or regulatory compliance role. Extensive knowledge and experience of SMCR requirements and regulatory expectations within the UK Financial Services sector.
* Sound understanding of FCA/PRA requirements, ability to analyse regulations and assess their strategic/compliance impact on the business.
* Structured, methodical thinker with an ability to engage and positively impact stakeholders at all levels.
