Job description This Information Manager is an important part of SSGs Governance and Assurance function within SSGs Headquarters. Working to the Senior Information Manager within SSG, this inspiring and influential appointment plays a key role in determining how SSG develops, delivers and embeds Information Governance, Assurance and Management across its enterprise and will help shape SSGs operations across a broad range of activities and locations. This role is part of the SSG Governance and Assurance function and supports the operation, evaluation, and continued improvement of SSG in line with DIO and wider MODs requirements, contributing to SSGs systematic, disciplined approach to risk management, control, governance and assurance processes. This role will support the Senior Information Manager in administering how our information assets are being managed; and cement good practice and deliver the changes required to improve our information practices and culture. Key Responsibilities: Leadership : Enable Head SSG and wid er senior leaders to deliver targets and goals. Drive strong working relationships across SSG and MOD. Information Management, Information Governance and Assurance: Advise SSG employees on Information Management, Records Management, and Information Assurance. Assist the SEO Senior Information Manager with tasks related to Information Management, Assurance, and Data Protection. Maintain and update compliance registers in accordance with set time frames. Support the development of SSGs Information Management Plan, Assurance Strategy, and Records Management Improvement Plan. Promote effective governance, managing practices for information storage, access, and dissemination. Assist in conducting quarterly internal audits to ensure compliance with MOD Information Management policies. Lead the collection of information for internal audits from DIO. Data Protection: Act as Principal Data Protection Authority (Deputy). Develop and manage SSGs DPIA Register, progressing all DPIAs through to completion. Advise employees on Data Protection matters. Oversee and manage any Data Protection security breaches within SSG. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on Information Management standards and support organisational change initiatives. Person specification Essential: Proven experience and understanding of Information Management, Information Assurance, Data Protection, and the associated policy guidance. Excellent communication skills to undertake complex discussions and process reviews with SSG Operations, HQ employees and wider stakeholders. Be self-motivated and have excellent organisational skills. A willingness to learn unfamiliar areas. Demonstrate a flexible approach to work and attend site meetings and other locations when required. Desirable: Certifications such as GKIM Information Management or Foundation in Data Protection (British Computer Society or equivalent). Experience working within MOD or a similar organisation.
