What you will do in your working day
As an Apprentice Electrician you will learn all about what it takes to make sure our customers’ homes are maintained to a high and safe standard. You will produce work of the highest quality while providing excellent service to our customers, clients, and your team.
As part of this apprenticeship, you will work closely with qualified Electricians carrying out first and second fix electrical work and electrical repairs. The work will be varied and interesting and you will have the support of a mentor throughout your apprenticeship.
Electricians within Property Care install, maintain and repair electrical systems in domestic environments. Electricians might work in both indoor and outdoor settings. Electrical equipment and systems may include:
-motors
-cables
-fuses
-thermal relays
-fault current protection switches
-heating
-lighting
-renewable energy technologies
On completion of their work the electrical systems must be safe to use. They must adhere to safe working practices without endangering themselves or others.
The training you will be getting
At College, you will study the 4-year Electrical Installation Apprenticeship standard at Level 3 by attending Lincoln College or a similar provider one day a week, alongside learning and working with experienced operatives during the rest of the week.
Depending on your grades and before taking your end-point assessment you will have achieved level 2 English and maths (equivalent to GCSEs at grades A* to C) if you do not hold grade 4 or above in English and maths.
You will receive a Electrotechnical Apprenticeship qualification.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
On successful completion of the Electrical Installation level 3 apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for any related job vacancies within PPC. If you gain permanent employment with PPC you will continue to be supported in your learning and development.
