An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Flood Risk Modeller to join a dynamic and growing team based in Hertfordshire. This role will involve working on diverse and challenging projects, providing flood risk modelling and management solutions for a variety of clients, including public and private sector organisations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical work, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the team's continued success.
Key Responsibilities
1. Developing detailed hydraulic and hydrological models for flood risk assessments using industry-standard software such as TUFLOW, Flood Modeller, and HEC-RAS.
2. Conducting flood risk assessments in accordance with relevant UK legislation and planning guidance.
3. Designing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and supporting the preparation of surface water management plans.
4. Providing technical advice to clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring solutions align with project objectives and regulatory requirements.
5. Supporting the preparation of flood risk and drainage reports for planning applications.
6. Mentoring and supporting junior staff in technical development and project delivery.
7. Contributing to business development by maintaining strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for new work.
8. Ensuring all project deliverables are completed to a high standard, on time, and within budget.
Person Specification
1. A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
2. Significant experience in flood risk modelling and management, including the use of software such as TUFLOW, Flood Modeller, and HEC-RAS.
3. A thorough understanding of UK flood risk policy, guidance, and regulatory frameworks, including the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
4. Experience designing SuDS and preparing drainage strategies.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to a range of audiences.
6. A proactive and collaborative approach to working in multidisciplinary teams.
7. Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
