The Data Architect will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising the data architecture that supports the Group’s insurance operations. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that data is effectively collected, stored, processed, and utilised to drive business insights and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data modelling, data management, architecture design, and a strong understanding of the insurance industry. Key responsibilities Data Architecture Design: Design and develop scalable and robust data architectures that meet the needs of the Benefact Group’s insurance products and services. Define and maintain data models, data flow diagrams, and data integration processes. Ensure data architecture aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements, including data security and privacy standards. Create and maintain architectural documentation, including diagrams, models, and guidelines. Data Integration & Transformation: Design and implement data integration solutions that enable seamless data flow between various systems and platforms, including cloud and on-premises environments. Oversee ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure efficient data transformation and loading. Optimise data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability. Data Management & Governance: Working in close collaboration with the existing Data and Analytics team: Assist with establishing and enforcing data management standards, policies, and procedures. Assist with developing and maintaining a comprehensive data governance framework to ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy. Collaborate with business units to identify data requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives. Stakeholder Engagement : Work closely with Group Technology teams, data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions. Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams during data-related projects. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure data architecture and practices comply with relevant industry regulations and standards, including GDPR and other data protection laws. Identify and mitigate risks associated with data architecture, including data breaches and loss of data integrity. Knowledge, skills and experience Data architecture experience Insurance Industry experience Proven track record of designing and implementing data architecture in insurance, including policy administration, claims processing, underwriting, and customer management systems. Technical Skills Proficiency in data modelling, database design, and data integration. Expertise in data integration tools and database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL). Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and cloud data integration patterns. Familiarity with metadata management tools and practices. Understanding of MDM principles and tools and experience in managing and consolidating master data across the enterprise. Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and tools. An understanding of data engineering, data lakes and processing of structured and unstructured data.
