Overview:
Everest People Solutions is recruiting for an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager to lead the site’s HSE operations. Based in Wrexham, you’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, developing a proactive safety culture, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
As the HSE Manager, you will lead the development, implementation, and management of all health, safety, and environmental practices. You’ll be instrumental in creating a safe and sustainable workplace, managing compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a safety-first culture across all departments. This role is vital to ensuring that the company's operations meet legal requirements, maintain high standards, and drive environmental impact reductions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and monitor Health & Safety and Environmental strategies, ensuring compliance with HSE legislation.
* Establish and maintain a culture of safety and environmental awareness through audits, assessments, and reviews.
* Lead the development of H&S policies, procedures, and training across the company, ensuring statutory compliance.
* Oversee accident reporting, investigations, and improvements, ensuring workplace safety.
* Ensure the proper use of machinery, storage, and handling of hazardous substances, and the maintenance of welfare facilities.
* Liaise with external H&S consultants for training programs and services.
* Manage Health & Safety Committee meetings, ensuring all actions are completed on time.
* Monitor environmental performance, ensuring compliance with NRW license conditions and MCERTS regulations.
* Support the company’s continuous improvement efforts by implementing lean techniques for operational excellence.
* Lead any health and safety audits, site visits, and insurance claims related to H&S matters.
* Drive environmental strategies aimed at sustainable development and reducing the company’s environmental footprint.
Qualifications and Experience:
* NEBOSH General and Environmental Certificates.
* Experience in leading HSE projects and managing health and safety in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of HSE laws and regulations.
* Proven ability to develop and implement HSE policies and procedures.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Desirable:
* NEBOSH Diploma or membership in IOSH.
* Experience in a food manufacturing environment, ideally FMCG.
* Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement techniques
