Job Title: Purchasing Manager
Location: Doncaster
Salary: Up to £55,000 DOE
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement activities for a significant budget of £20 million while managing an inventory of £5 million. You will lead a talented purchasing team, strengthen supplier relationships, and shape procurement strategies to ensure smooth operations and continued success.
Key Responsibilities
* Team Leadership: Inspire and lead the purchasing team, ensuring tasks are prioritised effectively, challenges are addressed promptly, and team members are supported in their development.
* Supplier Relationships: Build strong partnerships with key suppliers, including site visits across the UK and occasional overseas travel.
* Product Development: Work closely with internal teams to identify and introduce new products and suppliers, ensuring alignment with company standards.
* Inventory Management: Develop processes to maintain optimal stock levels, balancing customer demand with accurate forecasting.
* Cost Efficiency: Negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost savings, secure favourable terms, and maximise value through initiatives such as rebate generation and freight optimisation.
* Process Optimisation: Identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes, reducing inefficiencies and mitigating risks.
* Quality Oversight: Address purchasing-related quality issues and collaborate with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
* Sustainability Focus: Support the company’s ethical sourcing and sustainability objectives, including environmentally responsible transportation solutions.
* System Management: Ensure accurate data entry and record-keeping within ERP systems, enabling effective reporting and analysis.
