About the Role:
The role exists to optimise existing product packaging, delivering efficiency and cost benefits whilst meeting the needs of commercial stakeholders. The role holder will also lead development of packaging for new products, from concept / brief through to first commercial production and in store delivery
Main Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
1. Apply the packaging catalogue Implementation principle to the site
2. Champion packaging development (existing and new)
3. Ensure product packaging assessments meet defined requirements and specifications
4. Provide technical support to both internal and external stakeholders (e.g. commercial teams, packaging manufacturers)
5. Develop and lead T&R packaging sustainability initiatives
6. Utilise supplier resources to ensure optimum use of materials, reliability data, service and quality
7. Approval of technical packaging and associated change controls
8. Create new pallet patterns and Optimises where appropriate
9. Provide packaging data (weights/recyclability) for related internal & external reports
10. Attend industry events, benchmark packaging & evaluate new packaging technology
11. Lead packaging trials and factory process optimisation regarding critical packaging components
12. Understand factory production capabilities and constraints
13. Support NPD in adhering to procedures in line with critical paths
14. Liaise with marketing, purchasing and production teams
15. Keep up to date with technological innovations to identify opportunities for improvement
16. Keep upto date with packaging regulations
17. Complete Gemba walks, to improve site adherence to GMP, H&S and OPEX
18. Lead Initiations for Supply/ cost savings/ optimisations
19. Key Performance Indicators (Indicate how performance for this role will be measured)

20. Packaging or Scientific related degree or equivalent
21. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
22. Strong experience working in a packaging development / technologist role with exposure to cGMP.
23. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
24. Ability to analyse data and make recommendations
25. Motivated and enthusiastic self-starter
26. Good teamworking abilities
27. Familiar with the current regulations and internal systems.
