We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent cataloguing skills to work with the London College of Communication (LCC) Printing Historical Collection.
You will contribute to the development and delivery of a high-quality and student-focused Library service which supports the academic activities of the University and its constituent Colleges. Your primary focus will be on the uncatalogued sections of the LCC Printing Historical Collection (including books, pamphlets, and ephemera) where you will create individual catalogue records in the Library LMS Koha and ensure compliance with library RDA and Marc 21 standards. You will also contribute to the conservation and preservation of the physical items in line with expert preservation advice.
Your work will contribute to the decolonisation of the University's collections through critical cataloguing practices that challenge dominance and stereotyping. Join us and use your knowledge and skills to make the collections discoverable, supporting teaching, learning, and research at UAL and beyond.
About You
To be successful in this role, you should hold a degree in an information-related subject, arts or humanities, at either graduate or postgraduate level or have equivalent experience in a cultural heritage environment.
You should have a demonstrable interest in collections and an appreciation of efforts in libraries to update and expand the language we use to describe materials within our collections and make them accessible to a wider audience.
You should also have knowledge of metadata standards such as RDA, AACR2, MARC 21, and LCSH, as well as experience of working with library, museum, or archive collections, undertaking data entry, and using a library or collection management system or other database system.
