Job Title: Desktop Engineer
Location: Lister Hospital, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG1 4AB
Trust: East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
Job Type/Shift Patterns: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with hours from 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week (100% onsite).
Pay Rate: £14.79/Hr. + Holiday pay.
Contract duration: 3 – 6 months (Subject to review)
JOB SUMMARY:
The Desktop Support Engineer will support the Windows 11 rollout by deploying and rebuilding devices across Trust sites. The role includes providing IT support, troubleshooting, and maintaining operational efficiency while meeting SLA standards. NHS experience and familiarity with healthcare IT infrastructure are desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Deploy and configure Windows 11 devices.
* Provide 2nd/3rd line support for hardware and software issues.
* Troubleshoot and escalate issues to third-party suppliers as needed.
* Maintain service management tools and adhere to SLAs.
* Support the IT Service Desk and assist with project deployments.
* Communicate effectively with users to explain technical issues.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
* Proven desktop support experience with hardware and peripherals.
* Strong knowledge of desktop OS, applications, and ITSM tools.
* Excellent communication skills with non-technical users.
* NHS IT infrastructure knowledge (desirable).
EDUCATION:
* Degree in IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Microsoft certification or ITIL certification (desirable).
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
* Expertise in Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and imaging tools (e.g., SCCM/MDT).
* Familiarity with ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM tools.
* Knowledge of NHS IT governance (desirable).
