Working within the Joint Justice Services department, we are looking for someone to be part of a dedicated small team to facilitate the timely and accurate submission of case material to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) through the information system, Athena.
You will also provide telephone and on-line advice and support to officers and staff across all functions in relation to Criminal Justice.
Main activities of the role
* Provide a single point of contact for officers and staff assisting and advising on Criminal justice related matter ensuring that agreed time scales are met and robust queue management is maintained.
* Provide a focal point for assisting external customers such as CPS, Courts, Defence and Probation etc.
* Ensure commonality, consistency and a corporate approach to delivery of Criminal Justice Services.
* Check structure of Athena cases, identify issues and provide solutions and feedback to officers and staff.
* Support the implementation of Criminal Justice Reform Changes.
* Ensure internal processes and procedures are maintained, updated and disseminated; identifying potential performance related issues and escalate to the Assistant Team Leader Joint Business Support Team as appropriate.
* Maximise the benefits of Athena and digital working.
* Maximise the opportunities presented by new technology.
* Assist in keeping documentation up to date following all agreed processes and procedures including the CJS Intranet.
* Administration of staff DSS accounts in accordance with Information and Security Policy.
* Monitor DSS usage in accordance with Crime File Handling & Weeding Procedure – paper & digital files.
* Monitor ongoing enquiries and escalate as appropriate
* Provide high quality service and advice to customers.
* Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
1. Good computer skills with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
2. Effective verbal and written communication skills
3. Experience of working to high levels of accuracy and quality standards
4. Ability to research and extract information from various sources and effectively answer/resolve queries
5. Experience of organising and completing tasks within given deadlines
6. Experience of working effectively as part of a team
7. Ability to deal with members of the public and other agencies
8. Ability to provide good customer service
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
1. Experience within a police or legal environment
Hours of work are 17.5 per week, to be worked between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
