About the Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with pupils across various key stages who require additional support due to special educational needs such as autism, ADHD, social-emotional difficulties, speech and language challenges, and sensory impairments. You will collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to deliver consistent, targeted support that promotes pupil progress and emotional wellbeing. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs and EHCP targets. Assist in the planning and implementation of personalised learning strategies and behavioural interventions. Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence, and social interaction skills. Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and curriculum access. Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour, reporting key information to staff and SENCOs. Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and therapists to ensure inclusive classroom practices. Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment where all pupils feel valued. Job Requirements: Prior experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational or care setting is essential. Strong understanding of a range of learning needs and effective support strategies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A calm, resilient, and adaptable attitude with a strong sense of empathy and patience. A recognised qualification in education, SEN, or youth work (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or relevant SEN training) is highly desirable. Knowledge of safeguarding and behaviour management practices.
