The Cover Supervisor role allows you to build rapport with students, support their learning, and manage classrooms across various subjects, while preparing for a full-time teaching role by the new academic year. Key Responsibilities as Cover Supervisor (Immediate Start): Supervision of Classes: Deliver pre-planned lessons and supervise students during lessons and activities. Classroom Engagement: Encourage students to stay on task, assist with their learning where possible, and maintain a focused and productive environment. Behaviour Management: Use positive reinforcement techniques to maintain discipline and ensure the classroom runs smoothly. Administrative Support: Help with taking registers, collecting work, and ensuring students comply with school policies during lessons. Adaptation: Work flexibly across different subject areas, ensuring the students continue their learning even in the absence of their teacher. Key Responsibilities as a Fully Qualified Teacher (September Start): Teaching Lessons: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the curriculum requirements for your subject area. Assessment & Feedback: Monitor and assess students' progress, providing feedback that helps students improve and meet their targets. Classroom Management: Use a variety of strategies to maintain a positive learning environment and encourage active participation. Personal Development: Continuously improve your teaching skills through professional development opportunities and collaboration with colleagues. Parental Engagement: Meet with parents and guardians to discuss students’ progress and provide advice on how to support learning at home. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of curriculum resources and teaching methods. Key Requirements: Graduate Status: A recent graduate, preferably with a degree in a relevant subject area. However, graduates from all fields will be considered if they have a passion for teaching. Passion for Education: A strong interest in teaching and working with young people, with a desire to pursue a career in education. Communication & Organisation Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with students and staff, and to organise activities and classroom materials. Resilience & Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to new classroom environments and be flexible with teaching strategies. DBS Check: Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
