The Royal Surrey County Hospital is looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our well-established rotation. We have fantastic opportunities for staff who have completed their basic rotations and are looking to expand their knowledge, skills, and experience within the acute setting.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 therapist, you will also have the opportunity to supervise band 5s and/or assistants, apprentices, and Occupational Therapy Students on placement, as well as contribute to our service development.

Job responsibilities
The post holder assists in the development, administration, and provision of a specialist Occupational Therapy service; carries a varied caseload of patients. Managing complex assessment, with predominantly physical conditions and with regard to the physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, and social aspects of their care.
Directly responsible for the management of own caseload of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions referred for Occupational Therapy assessment, rehabilitation, treatment planning, and discharge management.
Assists in the management of the specialist team providing, developing, and planning an Occupational Therapy service to patients for this client group. The post holder will act as a source of expertise, demonstrating and maintaining knowledge, skills, and experience in this specialist role.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/degree in OT by a recognised awarding body e.g. Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
* Must satisfy the criteria for full membership of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Further qualifications/study.
* Driving licence (and use of own car for work purposes).
* Acute NHS experience.
* An approved Occupational Therapy supervisor for OT/PT degree students.
Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of the role of Occupational Therapy for people with a wide range of physical dysfunction.
* Previous experience relating to the specialist area.
* Experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
* Knowledge of relevant NHS and SS legislation.
* Experience with community/mental health conditions.
* Used to working in a busy environment.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and any other relevant IT systems applicable to the applicant.
* Experience of undertaking clinical supervision.
* Experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing the performance of the individuals.
* Thorough knowledge of the Inclusion (equality and diversity) agenda.
* Experience of delivering teaching and training sessions.

£31,469 to £47,084 a year per annum pro-rata - includes high cost area supplements (HCAS).
