MBDA Missile Systems – Together. For the Future of Defence. Electronics 10 month Placement Join the Electronic Engineering department for a chance to play a fundamental role in bringing together MBDA’s missile systems: designing and integrating the electronics that drive our Weapon Control Units, Actuators, Telemetry & Communication Systems and more We have a reputation for quality and innovation, and we maintain this by encouraging original ideas, innovative approaches and allowing our Engineers the space to design and produce solutions that meet the challenges. The MBDA Electronic Engineering under-graduate placement scheme is an excellent first step in your early career; whilst in EE, you will work with a range of highly skilled Engineers who want to invest in your development and support you in reaching your technical potential. What’s the opportunity? Over the course of your under-graduate placement in Electronic Engineering you will gain exposure to the Electronic Engineering product lifecycle, the various electronics that we design, the teams within the department, and the different projects that we’re working on. You will be assigned to an actual missile project and given real work that will form part of a missile system that will be brought into service with armed forces around the world. The placement will be split in two: the first you'll be embedded in our Missile Design team, who work on the prime Missile Design and the second as part of our Test Systems team, who focus on designing the test solutions that test and prove our prime design. Complex circuit design (Analogue, Digital, FPGA etc.) for computers, Safety related products, datalinks, ground/firing equipment etc. Analogue and Digital circuit test techniques and circuit design. Microwave / RF test measurement techniques and design. Analysis and Characterisation techniques. Test system design, testability of a design. You will be working with highly experienced engineers from a large range of engineering fields. This will allow you to develop and broaden technically and professionally within a multi-skilled team. As well as this, you will have the opportunity to be mentored and coached by experienced engineers in the art of designing electronics for military products. All the training schemes within Electronics Engineering are accredited with the IET. Registration at Eng. Tech level is a possibility for undergraduates who have completed a 10 month placement. MBDA can help in achieving this registration during the Placement period. Programme Structure You will be spending time both in the lab and in the office, gaining exposure to laboratory work, PCB Layout, Circuit Design & Simulations (using tools such as LTSpice & Zuken), test procedures and task package management. You may have occasion to travel to other MBDA sites, both in the UK and abroad, as well as having opportunities to support local schools in extra-curricular STEM activities, such as Robot Rumble.
