Job Summary:
The Locum Registrar is required to provide high-quality clinical care to patients in line with NHS Trust policies and standards. This role offers the opportunity to work in various specialties, acting in the capacity of a Registrar, while contributing to patient management, clinical audits, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives.
The position is suitable for doctors between ST3 to ST8 levels, offering varying levels of responsibility and supervision depending on the stage of training.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care:
o Deliver high-quality medical care to patients under the supervision of Consultants.
o Participate in ward rounds, out-patient clinics, and theatres/procedures as appropriate to the specialty.
o Ensure timely and appropriate diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
o Provide on-call cover as required, managing emergencies and acute patient admissions.
2. Clinical Management:
o Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records.
o Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to discuss patient cases.
o Liaise with other healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals) to ensure coordinated care.
3. Teaching & Training:
o Contribute to the teaching and supervision of junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare staff.
o Attend and present at departmental meetings, educational sessions, and grand rounds.
o Support audit and quality improvement projects in the department.
4. Professional Development:
o Keep up-to-date with clinical knowledge and skills relevant to the specialty.
o Attend mandatory NHS Trust training sessions and maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) records.
5. Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with GMC regulations and the Trust’s policies, including safeguarding, confidentiality, and health & safety protocols.
o Adhere to the Trust’s infection control policies and contribute to safe clinical practices.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements:
* Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
* Full GMC (General Medical Council) registration with a licence to practice.
* Minimum of 3 years postgraduate clinical experience (ST3 and above).
* Completed Foundation Training (or equivalent) and Core Medical/Surgical Training.
* Up-to-date Life Support Certification (e.g., ALS, ATLS, APLS depending on specialty).
* MRCP/FRCS/MRCOG/MRCPsych or equivalent specialty examinations (progress towards completion for ST3 and above).
* Experience and competence in the relevant specialty for the role.
* Right to work in the UK (for non-UK applicants).
* Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Prior experience working in the NHS or equivalent healthcare systems.
* Previous teaching experience for medical students and junior doctors.
* Evidence of participation in clinical audits or quality improvement projects.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: £60.00-£85.00 per hour
