Peterborough Six-month contract As a Diesel Engine Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engineering activity. This role involves validation of new diesel engine technology and systems, analysing data and trends, root cause corrective action and validation of corrective actions. You will be flexible, working on a wide variety of projects within a small multi skilled team. As a Diesel Engine Validation Engineer you will be familiar with these activities Collate system & component validation plans (DVP – Design Verification Plan) based on risk identified within DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis) Specify test requirements and define engine build & instrumentation requirements through collaboration with relevant engineering teams. Engine dyno testing: engine endurance validation test work on internal machines Upon test completion - document conclusions and recommendations, complete reports and update DFMEA with learning/results from test work. Skills and experience for success Experience of industrial diesel engine applications, construction machinery or generating sets Experience of Proactive Reliability, and demonstration of Product Quality Experience of DFMEA facilitation, creation and validation planning Proven project management experience related to Diesel Engine development 6 Sigma Methodology and Continuous Process Improvement Ability to troubleshoot build and test issues, and work with component owners and engine test engineers to complete validation test sign-off Ability to analyse engine data and use it to drive business decisions with clear, concise conclusions.
