Yoxall Health Centre are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our small team. This position is for full time or 30 hours a week working Monday - Friday between 8.00am and 6.00pm.
Candidates must be flexible, reliable, have the ability to multi-task, be computer literate and work efficiently within a busy and pressurised environment.
Main duties of the job
As the first point of contact at our Health Centre in Yoxall, you will be responsible for dealing with patients face to face and over the telephone.
You will ensure that all letters, reports, results etc are scanned and filed promptly and in the correct patients records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
You will deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
You will ensure that new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
You will maintain the computer clinical system in an accurate and secure manner.
You will provide cover for members of the reception/administrative team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
You will undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the management team.
About us
Yoxall Health Centre is a friendly rural dispensing practice with around 5000 patients. The practice is close to Burton on Trent and Lichfield.
The practice employs two partners, one salaried GP, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technician, Practice Nurse, Associate Practice Nurse, Health Care Assistant, Care Co-Ordinator, Dispensary Team, Secretary and Administration/Reception Team along with the Management Team.

JOB SUMMARY
At first point of contact our Health Centre in Yoxall, you will be responsible for dealing with patients face to face and over the telephone, ensuring that a strict code of confidentiality is adhered to at all times.
Job Responsibilities:
* Deal with all general enquiries
* Provide an effective and efficient reception service to patients and all other visitors to the practice
* Explain the practice procedures to patients
* Receive and make telephone calls as required
* Inputting requests for home visits onto the computer system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary, refer to the Duty Doctor
* Maintain the computer clinical system (Emis) in an accurate and secure manner
* Transfer calls as necessary to our dispensary and any other departments as required
* Make new and follow-up appointments
* Registering and deducting patients on the Emis Web system
* All administration tasks required
* Input patient information onto the Emis Web system as required
* Pass on clinical referrals and messages to the district nurse team and community matron
* Ensure all letters, reports, results etc are scanned and filed promptly and in the correct patient records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen
* Provide cover for members of the reception/administration team during periods of sickness and annual leave
* Any other duties deemed reasonable by the Senior Receptionist, APM, Practice Manager or Doctors
Premises:
* When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is totally secured. All windows shut and all doors locked.

They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential.

Person Specification
Experience
* Good communication skills, computer literate, good telephone manner, good customer care
* Experience in Emis and Docman is desired but not essential as full training will be given and an experience of working in healthcare
