About the Post
The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health at the University of Suffolk is looking for a part-time Academic Administrator to join our Academic Administration team. This role is based at our Ipswich Waterfront Campus and will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth delivery of courses and high-quality student support. You will work closely with academic teams to support course delivery, student assessments, and provide vital information to enhance the student experience.
As the first point of contact for students, you will provide timely and accurate advice and support across a variety of academic and administrative matters, while ensuring adherence to the University’s academic policies and regulations.
* Course Administration: Support academic teams by servicing Course Committees, preparing Course Handbooks, and assisting with maintaining course documentation on Brightspace.
* Assessment Management: Coordinate the student assessment process, including scheduling Assessment Boards and liaising with External Examiners. Clerking Assessment Boards and ensuring that minutes are recorded and communicated accurately.
* Student Support: Offer pastoral support to students throughout their studies, providing guidance on attendance, assessment, progression, and referring to specialist services when needed. Handle student applications for extensions and work closely with the Extenuating Circumstances Officer.
* Data and Reporting: Ensure accuracy of data within university systems and support the monitoring of academic standards through data analysis and reporting.
* Collaboration with Professional Services: Work alongside teams such as Admissions, Student Services, and Finance to ensure smooth processes for students. Represent the Academic Administration team at university committees and forums.
* Specialist Support: Provide additional support for courses with bespoke delivery requirements, such as Apprenticeships, CPD provision for Health professionals, and non-standard delivery methods.
About You
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
* Experience handling sensitive data with great attention to detail.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including students, staff, and external partners.
* A high degree of accuracy and organization in managing administrative tasks.
* The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
Experience working with the SITS student records database and prior experience in an administrative role within a higher education environment would be desirable.
