The role involves delivering exceptional teaching and learning experiences to students aged 11-16 with communication and social interaction challenges, primarily associated with Autism. This school is part of a larger group of schools, sharing leadership but maintaining distinct teams at each site. Each site has its own Assistant Head, teachers, and teaching assistants, supported by a full therapy team. Collaboration and movement between sites are encouraged for both students and staff. Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be accountable to the school leadership teams, performing various duties including, but not limited to: Contributing to curriculum delivery and development tailored to students' educational, physical, and social needs. Collaborating effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Utilising short, medium, and long-term plans for curriculum delivery. Setting, monitoring, and reviewing personalised learning targets. Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on student progress to stakeholders. Developing lesson plans and self-reflecting on outcomes. Participating in reviews of Statements, EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews. Structuring lessons to maintain engagement, motivation, and challenge. Staying informed on current autism-related issues to enhance teaching and learning. Working non-confrontationally to meet individual student needs. Qualifications and Experience: PGCE, QTS, or an equivalent teaching qualification. Ability to teach up to GCSE level. Relevant experience and knowledge of working with pupils with ASD, SEMH, and PDA. Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures. Experience managing a variety of behavioural approaches, including challenging behaviours.
