Would you like to be at the heart of decision making, influence and change to deliver a rapid leap forward in connectivity and sustainability across a large, predominantly rural, ambitious Local Authority?
Would you like to take on a leadership role, bringing together a new team to deliver outstanding outcomes?
If you are enthusiastic about building your career and a new era of transport, then this could be the role for you.
As a Transport Planning Service Manager, you will develop and take forward the Transport Planning function at Herefordshire Council. Your team’s goal will be to deliver better experiences for passengers, residents, and businesses, better connectivity both inward and outward to our neighbours, region and nations, and ultimately a better place to live.
You will lead on the delivery of the Local Transport Plan; the council’s flagship transport and connectivity strategy. This includes delivery of the Local Cycling and Walking Investment Plan, the Local Transport Fund, the Bus Service Improvement Plan, and other related plans. Our goal is to ensure transport is a focus for all relevant plans from a wide range of council departments, for example, the Local Plan, Climate Change mitigation plan, Public Health, Care leavers plan, etc.
This is a senior manager role taking a leading position in what and how we deliver connectivity, and how we make intelligent investment decisions for DfT funding streams.
Who are we?
You will play a fundamental part in a Transport function that is currently working towards developing Herefordshire’s vision for the future. We are an ambitious council, well aware of the challenges in front of us, and keen to make a genuine difference to everyone across the council, the region, and wider place.
Additionally, you will be joining a team and a Directorate that will provide you with opportunities to further develop your skills and experience. You can be immersed in making a difference from day one, but don’t worry, we will support and guide you all the way.
What you’ll bring
You will be an ambitious transport specialist, keen to make a real difference to people’s lives through excellent transport and infrastructure. Hardworking, people-focused, and driven to achieve tangible outcomes; you will be enthusiastic, friendly, adaptable, organized, with a mindset open to exploring new ideas.
You will bring demonstrable practical experience in a similar role and environment.
You will have excellent communication, negotiation, and analysis skills and be able to present information in written and verbal formats to a variety of audiences including internal stakeholders and Local Authorities.
You will bring an ability to develop an integrated infrastructure plan supporting investment decisions.
