This role is responsible for leading the Quality Management function at the Chippenham Factory for Manufacturing. Ensuring sustainability and effectiveness of the function to meet the needs and expectations of the business. You will support the factory leadership team and champion the reduction of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and Continuous Improvement to world-class standards.
You’ll make a difference by...
1. Strategy & Execution: Aligning local department strategy with factory and RI Quality strategy, develop action plans, and ensure forward planning.
2. Quality Innovation: Embedding emerging technologies (e.g., AI, Siemens Common Data Environment, Automated Visual Inspection) in Quality processes.
3. Leadership & Engagement: Overseeing all QM activities on-site, attending events and meetings, and ensuring efficient QC processes and internal audits.
4. Quality Investigation & COPQ: Driving problem-solving, root cause analysis, and a zero-defect culture. Reporting and controlling Non-Conforming Costs (NCCs) and reducing Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
5. Team Competence & NPD: Tracking and enhancing team competence, promoting learning, and ensuring inputs to Quality gates in new product design or change management processes.
6. BMS/QMS & Performance: Maintaining BMS systems, ensuring relevant documentation, and providing management information on quality performance using data analytics.
7. Customer/Supplier Relationships: Managing customer complaints, leading quality escalations, and executing supplier audit plans in collaboration with Procurement.
8. Financial & Safety Management: Managing budgets, planning CAPEX, ensuring team efficiency, promoting safety and sustainability, and driving a high-performance culture and continuous improvement.
You’ll win us over by...
1. Quality Management Team experience in businesses assembling complex mechanical and electrical products. Strong experience in leading effective RCCA and problem-solving.
2. Experience managing a BMS/QMS and associated audit experience, particularly dealing with customer requirements and external audit bodies.
3. Internal Auditor ISO9001 qualified or similar qualification.
4. Good working knowledge of the SAP platform or similar.
5. Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and experience leading and delivering tangible Continuous Improvement, Cost of Quality reduction in a manufacturing environment.
6. Project Management and change management experience.
7. Good communication skills, both oral and written.
8. Excellent IT skills (specifically MS Office).
