Job Purpose
To support and manage our team of existing volunteers and actively recruit new volunteers in collaboration with colleagues across the organisation to identify volunteering opportunities. Responsible to Social Support and Training Lead.
Main Duties
* Be the face of volunteering for Age UK Exeter.
* Work with Age UK Exeter staff to understand what vacancies there are and actively recruit.
* Work with service leads to assess and review the charity’s ongoing needs for volunteers within individual services.
* Work with the Fundraising/Marketing team around the production of materials.
* Attend events where volunteers may be recruited.
* Ensure that volunteer enquiries and applications are dealt with in a timely way in partnership with our admin function.
* Offer flexibility wherever possible and be open to creativity and skills that enhance what the organisation can offer older people.
* Carry out induction sessions for all new volunteers.
* Provide line management support for volunteer-led community groups and all ad-hoc volunteers.
* Work with Community Fundraising Officer to co-ordinate volunteer support for community events where this is required.
* Provide an ethos that values and empowers volunteers, organising social events, recognising longevity and commitment from the volunteers.
* Maintain effective communications with volunteers across the organisation.
* Be responsible for the day-to-day compliance with GDPR regulations.
* Abide by Age UK Exeter’s policies and procedures at all times.

* Respect for older people and understanding of confidentiality issues
* Ability to maintain an air of calm in stressful situations
