Your new role
As one of the stakeholders within the Anglian Water framework, they provide both design and construction services across the whole of Anglian Water's region, which is the largest by geographic area in the UK, stretching across Lincolnshire and East Anglia. Work is mainly focused on clean water infrastructure (water mains), but also includes wastewater infrastructure and both water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects, such as treatment works and pumping stations. They are now looking for a Commercial Manager to join the team where you will be accountable for the commercial and cost management of a project or programme of projects from inception to close out, reporting directly to the Project Leader, ensuring that maximum efficiencies are obtained and full compliance with all Anglian Water governance procedures is achieved. You will provide a commercial challenge to the Project Leader and team on all project matters.
As Commercial Manager, your duties will include:
* Ensuring robust estimates are provided that are aligned to scope and make due allowance for all risks and opportunities.
* Managing and supporting the commercial and procurement strategies with the Senior Buyers to ensure the tender processes are followed correctly.
* Preparing subcontracts that reflect the agreed scope.
* Managing subcontracts in accordance with contract requirements, including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, compensation events, programme submissions, etc., and maintaining all contract files.
* Ensuring robust cost management is undertaken at all times.
* Accurate live forecasting taking into account the project programme.
* Monitoring and assessing actual costs against the baseline estimate, particularly all site costs including direct labour, plant & materials, and all staff bookings.
* Providing reports on actual costs vs estimate and identifying underlying reasons for any variance and resolution.
* Ensuring that the framework contract is properly administered.
* Keeping proper records so that all financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
* Proactively managing opportunities including identifying and implementing plans to realize them.
* Monitoring the progress of all identified efficiencies and reporting on them.
What you'll need to succeed
* Educated to Degree/HNC level or equivalent.
* RICS/CIOB/CICES.
* Experience in delivering multiple and/or complex projects ranging in values from £100k to multi-million pound projects with experience in contract administration (working with NEC suite of contracts).
