Job overview
The post holder will be based with the CMHT and work with the integrated/single line team manager to ensure clinical leadership of the multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will assist with clinical supervision of the team ensuring that robust management plans are in place for those in whom it is warranted.
It is anticipated that the post holder will assist in training of team members in clinical matters.
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Acute Care Services (inpatient and Home Treatment (HTT)).
The community consultant is responsible for the longer term planning and provision of section 117 aftercare arrangements and the provision of suitable reports for Mental Health Act appeals.
Consultants will be expected to comply with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
Clinical leadership within Acute Care setting.
Develop care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
Mental Health Act 1983 assessments when required.
Main duties of the job
1. To manage, appraise, and give professional supervision to junior medical staff.
2. To undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
3. To record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively.
4. To participate in annual appraisal for consultants.
5. To attend and participate in the academic programme of the Health Board.
6. To maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council.
7. To participate annually in a job plan review with the Clinical Director.
8. To work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services.

Person specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Welsh AC Approval.
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of completing CCT.
* Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months.
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months.
Clinical Skills
* Evidence of training in the core and specialist competencies for community psychiatry.
* Experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of community psychiatric practice.
