We are looking for a Science Teacher (Maternity Cover) to join our team on a .6 part time basis to develop and encourage children to learn and enjoy science. The required days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The successful candidate will have QTS and experience of teaching Science in a primary, prep or senior school capacity.
The ability to teach netball and/or hockey would also be an advantage.
Hours, Salary & Benefits:
Hours: Maternity role. Part time - Mon, Tues, Weds. Fixed term contract of at least 12 months.
April 2025 start
Salary: Commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and ability. FTE salary will be paid based on 3 days a week (.6)

Being a science teacher at CMP is an opportunity to ignite a love of science in young children. Your teaching should encourage investigation, experiment and nurture inquisitiveness and a desire to find out how things work. Above all it should be fun.
Responsibilities:
* Working in conjunction with form tutors you will embrace the current curriculum plans across the whole school and teach Science to children in Years 3 - 6 in our specialist science lab.
* To provide a safe, friendly, stimulating environment in which the pupils can flourish.
* To follow the curriculum in order to promote the development of the abilities and aptitudes of pupils in any class or year group.
* To be responsible for creating a stimulating, productive learning environment in the classroom and shared areas. Each teacher has responsibility for the presentation of their teaching area. Displays will be changed routinely at least once a term and preferably every half term.
* To utilise a variety of teaching methods and strategies to enthuse pupils and take their learning forward.
* Communicate effectively to Staff, Pupils and Parents.
* To take responsibility for the pastoral care of pupils allocated.
* To promote the school's policies and expectations.
* To adhere fully to all school policies including: Anti-Bullying, Safeguarding and Behaviour policies.
* To organise/assist with after-school activities and theme days as required.
Skills and Qualities:
* Previous experience of teaching science
* Have energy and initiative
* Ability to work as part of a team
* A high level of personal organisation
* To ensure students are taught according to their individual needs and abilities
* An ability to teach netball or hockey would also be useful but is not essential.
