Job overview
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer the opportunity to join our team within Emergency Medicine as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
We are looking for Advanced Clinical Practitioners who are motivated, enthusiastic, compassionate individuals with experience in emergency medicine. Candidates should be credentialed ACPs with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine curriculum or have a comparable portfolio of evidence outlining their competence, equivalent to ST3 level practice in emergency medicine, and have completed an MSc in advanced clinical practice or MSc ACP apprenticeship.
The post will be cross-site at the John Radcliffe Emergency Department, a Major Trauma and tertiary referral centre, and the Horton General Hospital Emergency Department. We are committed to growing and developing our team of ACPs, providing an opportunity for those experienced in emergency care to develop their clinical practice, knowledge, and leadership skills while delivering a high standard of care to our patients.
Main duties of the job
This is a full-time post; you will be working 0.8 clinical practice / 0.2 non-clinical time towards a 7/24 hour service. The ACP will work alongside the EM clinician team, develop advanced clinical assessment skills, manage their own case load, and assess, treat, refer, or discharge patients in their care with support from a senior clinician. The ACP is expected to work as an autonomous practitioner in all areas of the Emergency Department, including adult or paediatrics depending on portfolio evidence.
As an ACP in our Emergency Departments, you will receive regular clinical supervision from our team of consultants, have access to multidisciplinary education, and create individual learning plans as required. Additionally, there will be opportunities and expectations for you to take active roles in education, leadership, and research projects within the Emergency Departments.
