ROLE SUMMARY How this role fits into the vision and objectives of Causeway: We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Anti-trafficking Advocate for Survivors of Modern Slavery. In this role, you’ll be responsible for supporting survivors of modern day slavery currently within the National Referral Mechanism who are living within the North East. You will work in an agile and responsive team environment providing a great standard of support for service users empowering them towards independence. The successful candidate will enjoy a mix of travelling to support services users with face to face support with survivors and hybrid working from the office or home. This role includes meeting service users and providing them with emotional and practical support; advocating on their behalf, communicating with other organisations including but not limited to health professionals, legal representation and the Home office. Responsibilities: Providing casework support for Survivors Of Human Trafficking across the North West, signposting them to relevant organisations and support networks in the community. Each full time Advocate will oversee 16-20 service users of varying levels of support need. Visiting each service user face to face a minimum of once a month, however this may increase depending on service user needs. Meeting service users in an appropriate environment, such as a coffee shop or public library. Home visits or remote sessions may be required. Working effectively as a team, including giving responsive feedback and handover information to Line Manager and colleagues with a shared caseload. Independently meeting deadlines, including accurately recording and logging support hours, documenting relevant service user information, and completing other administrative paperwork in adherence to the terms of the contract. Risk assessing and taking appropriate steps to safeguard service users. Following ECAT requests and meeting KPIs set by contractors. Ensuring all service users receive the full protection/support of the EU convention, as laid out in article 12 of the ECAT. Arranging appointments for individual service users and liaising with organisations and individuals regarding service users in a professional manner. Ensuring the progression of service users through the system, including journey planning and move on strategies, within the required time frame. Regularly attending supervision meetings with Line Manager. Adhering to all internal procedures regarding Causeway and any legislation. Promoting Causeway in adherence to the terms of the contract, which may include attending events on behalf of Causeway. Any other duties that are commensurate with the role. Job Specification Essential Qualification and Education: Demonstrate knowledge in specific subject area through specialist training, degree or vocational studies. An appropriate enhanced DBS check. A basic understanding of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking. A basic understanding of trauma-informed working. Experience: Recent experience of working with vulnerable people. Recent record-keeping experience. Skills: Good communication skills, including feedback and competent information handover. Crisis management and conflict defusing abilities, taking initiative when needed. Effective and independent use of an online client management system. Flexibility and responsiveness to clients’ needs. Maintaining client confidentiality and record-keeping. Managing a varied caseload and prioritising tasks. Writing reports and letters professionally on behalf of clients. Good administrative skills. Working within Causeway's Internal Policies and Procedures. Desirable Qualifications and Education: Additional qualifications such as first aid, safe handling of medication, Health and Social Care Level 3, IDSVA or relevant equivalent qualifications. Detailed understanding of trauma-informed working. DASH risk assessments. Experience: Understanding of working within the third sector. Lone working experience. Experience using an online client management system. Skills: Experience in helping individuals on the road to recovery. Ability to speak another language.
