We are looking to recruit a new Housing Service Support Manager for our our unaccompanied asylum-seeking children’s service in Nottingham. This is an amazing role where you will lead and manage everything on a day to day basis to ensure the young people who live in our service are safe and supported. You will be passionate about providing opportunity for our young people to learn the valuable skills they need to move toward living independently. You will have the unique perspective of working with both the young people and the staff giving you valuable insight to the needs, requirements but also the successes and achievements the young people are making every day. You will seek to improve the lives of the young people but working with them to understand what support they need to integrate into their local communities, learning all about new cultures and traditions. This is a really varied role which will stretch you across day-to-day operations and strategic planning for the future. On a day to basis, you will · Lead a team of Youth Support Workers and Senior Youth Support Workers, ensuring they are meeting their KPI’s and giving our residents all the support they require to achieve positive outcomes, using the homelessness outcome star framework. · Manage the budget for your service area including staffing, equipment, funded projects etc. · Work closely with the Maintenance and Domestic teams to ensure properties are both turned around quickly for new residents but also are maintained to a high standard. · Be pro-active in managing personal charges, housing benefit claims, occupancy, managing periods of voids and working closely with the Assessment teams to identify new suitable tenants. · Provide support for incidents and complete investigations to identify learnings · Manage the KPI’s and analyse the data to prepare reports to provide insight on the effectiveness and performance of this service area. · Drawing on your experience and knowledge to input information for new Bids. · Provide support or project manage newly funded projects. You will be highly supportive of the teams that you directly and indirectly manage and look to bring everyone on the same journey of development and improvement; instilling a desire in everyone to do the very best they can to drive those positive outcomes for our residents. You will also use your own personal drive and personality to build relationships with external partners and stakeholders to leverage services which may be of use to our residents, but also to explore community initiatives our residents can get involved with too. About You From a background in supported housing, you will be able to bring knowledge and understanding of support accommodation, the challenges our residents face but also an awareness of the support and 3rd parties available to support our residents. You will be a brilliant communicator; whether dealing with your staff or our residents, you will be able to inspire, engage and motivate. You will be confident in 1-2-1 communication and in group settings, able to represent your service area at team and wider organisation meetings. You might already have team leaderships skills from a previous role or looking to make that first step into management, we are happy to support your development. We are ideally looking for someone with experience of working in housing management and/or supported housing services. If you had a recognised housing qualification this would be a highly desirable. Either through experience or qualification, you will have excellent knowledge of the welfare and benefits system, safeguarding, housing and homelessness legislation. You will need to be confident managing budgets and exploring funding opportunities as well as designing and implementing policies, and reporting. Possessing excellent conflict resolution skills, you will be a clear leader with excellent problem solving skills, be passionate about best practice and driving continuous improvement at an individual and team level for performance. It is desirable that you have a full driving licence (as travel between our sites is required) but these can be accessed by public transport across Nottingham.
