Care is Central Residential is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Chef to join the team at our newly built, state-of-the-art, luxury residential care home in the heart of Leighton Buzzard. This home is one of only two in the UK designed to meet Passivhaus standards, making it highly energy-efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.

Job Role:
We are seeking a talented and passionate Head Chef to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for cooking and a strong commitment to creating nutritious, delicious, and beautifully presented meals that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Team Leadership and Development: Inspire, lead, and motivate the team, while providing opportunities for skill enhancement and professional growth.
2. Menu Creation: Design and adapt menus to meet the individual preferences of residents, ensuring a personalized and high-quality dining experience.
3. Quality Cooking: Utilize fresh ingredients to prepare nutritious, high-standard dishes, emphasizing quality and taste.
4. Baking from Scratch: Prepare fresh baked goods, including cakes, scones, and bread, ensuring all items are made from scratch.
5. Dining Area Setup: Collaborate with the front-of-house team to arrange and set up dining areas, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment.
6. Budget Management: Oversee budgeting, conduct regular audits, and manage stock control to ensure efficient use of resources.
7. Positive Work Environment: Foster a warm, efficient, and enjoyable workplace culture.
8. Recruitment and Retention: Continuously recruit and retain talented team members to maintain a strong and cohesive team.
9. Performance Management: Oversee and manage the performance of both the kitchen and front-of-house teams, ensuring high standards are maintained.
10. Rota Management: Oversee the management of the rota, ensuring that the kitchen always has sufficient staffing levels and overseeing payroll.
11. Compliance: Ensure that all policies, procedures, and guidance outlined under SFBB or HACCP are adhered to in order to maintain residents’ safety and obtain good EHO ratings.
Requirements:
1. A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents.
2. Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/QCF level 3 or equivalent.
3. Experience in leading, motivating and inspiring a team.
4. Experience of working with fresh seasonal food with a good understanding of nutrition.
5. The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our homes.
6. Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus.
7. Experience working with a front of house team to ensure the restaurants are set up to a high standard.
8. Good understanding of SFBB, COSHH and guidelines set out by the environmental health organisation.
9. Knowledge around modified diets using the IDDSI framework.
10. To be eligible to work in the UK.
