The Opportunity The Procurement Category Manager is part of the Global Procurement & Supply chain team and reports to Head of Procurement. This position manages both the strategic and tactical aspects of sourcing a number of product related categories within pharmaceutical sector, such as Excipients, Laboratory equipment, APIs for new product introduction, Packaging, to meet the requirements of internal stakeholders to support Dechra's business, including driving continuous value chain creation with internal stakeholders and major suppliers for business growth, cost optimisation and security of supply. Main Responsibilities So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including: Proactively leads Group global sourcing strategy, working across functions, regions, and Manufacturing sites to understand and define business requirements, respond to changes. Leads and develops strategic sourcing teams on site level. Builds Group procurement best practices & talent management to identify and deliver sustained year on year pipeline of opportunities. Set the sourcing strategy and implement Category Strategy to ensure short-, mid- and long-term objectives. Proactively drive continuous improvement of processes, cost savings and value creation without compromising compliance, quality, or service. Ensure compliance and security of supply for category, proactively identifying and mitigating all forms of risk to quality, service, and cost. Provide oversight for compliance programs necessary when working with suppliers. Continuously drive the organisation for the generation and review of ideas for cost savings opportunities with the target of 3% YoY savings. Actively seek and deliver cost and process improvement projects. Support the business prioritisation and implementation. Proactively partner and align with the Manufacturing, Product Development, Regulatory, QC and Global Supply site teams, as well as support functions to ensure delivery of the strategic and operational needs of the business. Guarantee operational performance by being a pro-active business partner. Responsible for continuously gathering Market Intelligence to ensure market competitiveness and transparency of current terms of cooperation with suppliers. Manage full portfolio of suppliers within this category, taking ownership of complete sourcing process, commercial negotiations and further contracting with cascading the terms to Local Buyers. Execute business review meetings with suppliers and internal stakeholders, monitor global KPI within the category, develop suppliers according to the principles of Supplier Relationship Management. Responsible for leading Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), Supplier Evaluations and Due Diligence, Negotiation, Contracting, and ultimately owning Supplier Relationship Management for key contracts. Working knowledge of multi-site ERP systems (Oracle preferred). Experience in leading international procurement projects. Good understanding of contractual terms and conditions.
