The Wakefield 0-19 Service have an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse who would like to develop their existing knowledge and skills in safeguarding.
The 0-19 service is delivered by a multidisciplinary public health team in a variety of settings for children age 0-19 years. Practitioners work with children, young people and families in their communities across the Wakefield district with the aim of promoting optimum health and wellbeing outcomes as part of the Healthy Child Programme.
The Safeguarding & Strategy Nurse will work within this Wakefield team to ensure safeguarding of children and young people is supported effectively. This will include gathering information from clinical records to assess and analyse risk in order to share the appropriate health information at safeguarding meetings, signposting to appropriate health providers and services, and supporting children, young people and their families through child protection processes.
A full preceptorship package will be provided.
Main duties of the job
1. To work closely with the 0-19 team and multi-disciplinary partners to gather information from clinical records to assess and analyse risk in order to share appropriate health information at safeguarding meetings. The Nurse will signpost colleagues to other relevant Health information/professionals where appropriate.
2. Offering safeguarding supervision and supporting training and development to members of the Wakefield 0-19 team.
3. Line management of junior staff.

Essential and Desirable
* Current NMC registration
* A wide range of child protection experience
* Experience of teaching and assessing students, support staff and peers
* Experience of working with children and families
* Additional relevant qualification of working with vulnerable children or ability to demonstrate having gained equivalent knowledge
* SCPHN Qualification
* Experience of clinical audit and performance management or willingness to learn
