PSR are working with a leading Civil Engineering main contractor, who specialise in clean and waste water infrastructure and non infrastructure. Who are seeking a Senior QS / Commercial Manager to provide commercial support on a number of Thames Water projects.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor Role
The Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager will oversee the financial and commercial management of multiple projects or a section of a larger project.
Your role will be key in mitigating financial risk, ensuring cost control, and maximising project profitability, while adhering to the company's commercial procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Regional Director and Commercial Manager in financial and commercial matters.
Ensure timely submission and analysis of contract performance data.
Work closely with Contracts Managers to oversee project finances and report key developments.
Prepare and approve sub-contracts and manage sub-contractor performance.
Supervise and mentor junior commercial staff.
Ensure compliance with contract notices, claims, and payment applications.
Lead dispute resolution and contract negotiations with clients and suppliers.
Manage project meetings and provide regular financial reports.
Skills as a Senior Quantity Surveyor
Essential:
Strong commercial management experience in the Civil Engineering industry.
Proficient in contract management, valuation, and cost forecasting.
Excellent negotiation skills and ability to draft sub-contracts.
Strong knowledge of CIS, dispute resolution, and risk assessment.
Experience in final accounts, value engineering, and procurement.
Proven track record of mentoring and developing commercial teams. Desirable:
Membership of RICS or a recognised professional body.
Experience in health, education, mixed-use, or commercial projects.
