An organisation is seeking a Chief Data Officer (CDO) who will have the crucial responsibility of ensuring we govern our data and analytics (D&A) assets so that the business can make maximum strategic advantage of its data, differentiating itself from the competition. Your primary objective is to create and sustain a culture of data ownership that will enhance and accelerate our ability to exploit the inherent value of these data resources to amplify the value we deliver to our customers, the results we achieve in our business, and the growth we foster in our associates. In this role you will have the opportunity to: Maintain authority and accountability for exploiting the value of enterprise information assets (data), and of the analytics used to render insights for decision making, automated decisions and augmentation of human performance. Define and execute the mission to take the organisation on the journey from ad hoc data quality to the industry leading position in data strategy, culture and stewardship. Establish the data quality vision, strategy and related practices for data and analytics. Understand and document the lifecycles, ownership and lineage of key data across the enterprise, engage with senior leaders to agree and drive accountability for data quality. Partner across the enterprise data quality rules and metrics, establish roles, policies, processes and tools to drive and enable a cultural shift to industry leading data ownership, improving the value and time to market from traditional analytics and building a foundation for effective leverage of AI technology. Define and implement the processes to capture and publish key data entities, ownership, lifecycles and lineage. Expand into broader connected governance, which covers data security, privacy, architecture and other compliance and regulatory governance practices. Create of a culture of data ownership and literacy across the enterprise and hold data owners accountable for metrics/KPI’s. The essential requirements of the job include: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration; science technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM); computer science; data science; information systems or related field; or equivalent work experience. A proven background and experience in progressive leadership in leading cross-functional teams, multidisciplinary environments and enterprise wide data and analytics programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts. Experience in integrating complex, enterprise wide processes and information strategies, and/or designing strategic metrics and scorecards. Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills: Able to work across business lines at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals. Demonstrated knowledge of information systems/tools, related to software and data management, enterprise content management, and record-keeping policies and practices in a complex organizational environment. A broad understanding of the full range of strategic data and analytics capabilities, and the ability to communicate these concepts, methods and techniques in ways easily understood by other stakeholders.
