Senior Speech and Language Therapist (ASD)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our supportive team and facilitate effective communication for all.
We are looking for an SLT to undertake Autism diagnostic assessments for 3 days per week as part of the Multi-disciplinary team. The post can focus exclusively in this area or, at the successful applicant's request, include other SLT service delivery activities.
The successful candidate will support assessment and interventions for children for whom we receive a request for these services. This will include undertaking assessments for children on the Autistic diagnostic assessment pathway, writing reports which follow the DSM5, and supporting a decision as part of the Multi-disciplinary team.
Our services are mostly delivered within educational settings, sometimes within Family Hubs or home visits, and often involve collaboration with parents, carers, and the Multi-agency team.

Our team in Halton consists of: Speech and Language Therapist Lead; Specialist, Senior and Junior SLTs; Early Years Teacher; Speech and Language Therapy Assistants; all of whom are supported by a Business Support Team.

Job responsibilities

Core responsibilities:
* To provide speech and language therapy services to children, directly and through support to their families and the multi-disciplinary team.
* Provide speech, language, and communication assessments for children and young people in consultation with their families, the multi-disciplinary team, and other SLTs and SLTAs.
* Keep accurate records and provide written reports.
* Hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision.
* Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the planning, development, and delivery of an effective and efficient service.
* Liase with other involved agencies and with families to provide an integrated service.
* Contribute to full SLT student placements.
* Contribute to the induction, supervision, and support of other, more junior SLTs, SLTAs, and volunteers.
* Facilitate clinical case discussions.
* Access clinical supervision within the team via regular meetings, group and individual supervision, mentoring, and appraisals.
* Be committed to continuing professional development.
* Able to make independent decisions about caseload management, service design, and manage projects independently.
* Contribute to the evaluation and monitoring of services.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Degree or Masters.
* Registration with RCSLT and HCPC.
* Training relevant to the role, e.g., ADOS etc.
Experience
* 2+ years experience working as an SLT with children, young people, their families, and the Multi-agency team.
* Experience working with children and young people with an ASD diagnosis.
* Experience in undertaking Autistic diagnostic assessments and writing reports.
* Experience supervising and coaching others.
* Experience in monitoring service outcomes.
* Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 suite including Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
