Summary We’re looking for a Ranger to lead our nature conservation and site presentation work in the Broads. You’ll be looking after Heigham Holmes grazing marshes and caring for our land at Horsey Windpump. As part of your work, you’ll be immersed in Broadland wildlife namely birds such as cranes and marsh harriers, red deer, swallow tail butterflies and Norfolk Hawker dragonflies. You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings, and be on call. What it's like to work here You'll work closely each day with immediate colleagues from the visitor experience and food and beverage team and will lead a team of 10 countryside volunteers who help with wildlife gardening, site presentation, compliance and infrastructure maintenance. Reporting to an Area Ranger based at Blakeney, there will be opportunities to work alongside the wider ranger team at other sites to develop skills and knowledge and help progress projects. What you'll be doing Working at the Norfolk Coast and Broads portfolio, you’ll based at Horsey Windpump looking after this tranquil site where visitors can experience the Staithe, Mere and views of the landscape. You’ll also work on Heigham Holmes, a secret island grazing marsh important for characteristic species in the Broads, accessed by a unique bridge. You’ll also support colleagues with tasks at Blakeney and at Brancaster from time to time, having the opportunity to experience our nature work on the coast. You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task. You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.
