This course develops wood machining, cabinet making, and upholstery skills through individual design development projects with assessment via coursework. The course allows progression to a Level 3 program with a specialized interest in one discipline. The course covers all aspects of furniture making and design to include:
1. Cabinet making
2. Modern upholstery
3. Traditional upholstery
4. Design development drawing with ideas and sketches
5. Design development ideas in cabinet making or upholstery
6. Basic frame-making skills used in modern day production
Entry Requirements
Three GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and Mathematics or a relevant Level 1 qualification.
Assessment
Assessment is via coursework.
You could progress to Furniture Making Level 3 Extended Diploma.
