HLM_RaD is HLM Architects' innovative research and development initiative aimed at improving architectural practices through experimentation and collaboration. It focuses on key themes such as digital technology, offsite construction, stakeholder engagement, sustainability, wellbeing, social value, and special educational needs.
HLM_RaD drives the creation of tools like the Thoughtful Design Toolkit to enhance design processes and outcomes efficiently and effectively. This initiative exemplifies HLM’s commitment to being at the forefront of architectural innovation by integrating advanced digital tools and collaborating with experts and educational institutions.
Role Overview:
As an Urban Data Analyst, you will be key in transforming complex place, asset and people-focused data into meaningful insights. You will work closely with our design teams and other business units to develop and maintain our unique tool “HLM_Place,” providing critical support to our architectural projects and helping to promote and evolve the tool alongside our regeneration team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Evolve the design and operation of our own spatial mapping tool – HLM_Place – to align with client goals and suit market demand.
* Develop, maintain and monitor Client Power BI dashboards which integrate client data, open source data and information mapped on ArcGIS.
* Improve the practice-wide understanding of GIS and its power within the built environment.
* Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide support.
* Help promote the tool at conferences and events.
* Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all reports and dashboards.
* Conduct basic data analysis to support ongoing projects and business development initiatives.
* Stay updated with the latest developments in Power BI and data visualization technologies.
* Perform targeted staff training and awareness sessions to enhance awareness and usage of data-driven tools and analysis.
* Champion the use of data technologies and AI to maximise outputs and decision making.
Key Requirements:
* A keen interest in data analytics and visualization.
* Proficiency in Power BI, including an understanding of DAX, Power Query, and data modelling concepts.
* Proficiency in GIS.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
* A willingness to learn and grow within the architectural and data analytics fields.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Data Analysis, Computer Science, Information Technology, Architecture, or a related field.
* Background in architecture or urban design.
* Good knowledge of Geographic Information Systems and their application in the field of architecture.
* Good knowledge of Power BI.
* Experience with other low code automation apps would be advantageous.
* Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) is advantageous.
* Understanding of architectural project workflows and key performance indicators would be advantageous.
* An understanding of Power Automate, low code and AI would be advantageous.
* Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes would be advantageous.
* Basic knowledge of SQL or other data manipulation languages would be advantageous.
