Key Clinical Responsibilities
The post holder will provide clinical leadership to the team. He or she will contribute to provide advice, assessment of perinatal patients referred to the service for diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders and support MDT members who carry out assessment of patients in the team. She/he will help to facilitate accurate diagnosis and timely interventions so that patients and her family receive integrated, evidence-based treatment which can be delivered in a timely manner and in accordance with the recovery model. He or she will also provide ongoing treatments to patients that are evidence based and supported by NICE guidelines maintaining a bio psychosocial approach.
Post holder is required to maintain Section 12(2) status and Approved Clinician status and have a comprehensive awareness of Mental Health, Mental Capacity and Care Act legislation. He or she will be expected to participate in Mental Health Act assessments when possible.
The post holder is expected to be committed to a multidisciplinary approach to care and actively contribute to MDT meetings and formulation meetings and work in close collaboration with team members, care coordinators, other CPFT services and statutory agencies as required for the care of community patients.
The post holder has a role to foster close working relationship with key stakeholders in the perinatal pathway. He or she will lead the perinatal training programme development locally and contributes to the perinatal training of the workforce.
The Service
The Perinatal Mental Health Team (PMHT) is a specialist community mental health team. The team operates in two main locations, in Peterborough and Cambridge to meet with the local families' need and to foster close working relationship with local maternity, health visiting, primary care, statutory and voluntary organization. The PMHT is a multidisciplinary team; psychiatrists, psychologists, perinatal clinical nurse specialists, occupational therapists, social workers, nursery nurses, support workers work together. The PMHT will go through further expansion in line with NHS England Long term Plan.

Education/Qualifications
Essential Criteria
1. Full GMC registration and licence to practice
2. MRCPsych or equivalent
3. Approved Clinician Status or eligible to attend training
Entry Criteria for Grade
Essential Criteria
1. Specialty Registration in adult psychiatry
2. CCT in relevant specialty or within 6 months of attainment of Higher Training CCT at time of interview
3. Shall have equivalent experience and competencies recognised by GMC
Experience
Essential Criteria
1. Experience of multi-disciplinary working
2. Experience of teaching and supervision of doctors in training.
3. Experience in the assessment and management of women in the perinatal period in acute and community setting
Desirable Criteria
1. Publications in the field of psychiatry
2. Credential or experience in Perinatal Psychiatry
3. Relevant research experience
Skills, Knowledge and Ability
Essential Criteria
1. Knowledge of policy and legislation relating to mental health.
2. Management skills.
3. Ability to take a clinical lead
Qualities and Attributes

1. Able to demonstrate reflective practice.
