About The Role
We are looking to strengthen our Delivery team with a Control System Project Engineer at our ESD, Stepps office with hybrid working available.
The Control System Project Engineer will support delivery of Control System Migration projects on behalf of the Client Delivery Vehicle, responsible for successful co-ordination and verification of design and implementation as per project requirements.
This position will require a combination of field and office-based work, and the successful candidate will be a solutions-driven individual, with excellent technical and problem-solving abilities, strong leadership, motivational and communication skills, with key interfaces the management of specialist subcontractors, client operators and asset management teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. To ensure the project scope is adequately defined and optimal strategy selected for migration to minimise risk to customer process.
2. Support projects that are concerned with replacement of obsolete C&I systems/equipment or development of new systems, in particular control/PLC systems.
3. Undertake a technical review of proposals and be able to present bid comparison technical notes to senior managers/clients.
4. To ensure Systems Integration contractor is focused on deliverables in order to support project milestones on time and on budget and to the correct technical standard.
5. To ensure technical risks on projects are identified clearly and communicated to the project manager and other stakeholders.
6. To review technical blockers and liaise with all stakeholders on projects to consolidate technical solutions from technical expertise to remove blockers.
7. To review project migration and commissioning plans and ensure the delivery schedule contains the necessary activities and sequence of execution to optimise delivery of project.
8. To review the proposed technical solutions and ensure compliance with the customer specification.
9. To maintain record for all technical issues and implemented solutions during the project software delivery cycle to support Lessons Learned.
10. Understanding of process safety, fault analysis and reliability assessments using recognised techniques such as FMEA, FTA, LOPA, HAZID and HAZOP.
11. To contribute to project reviews with technical inputs and strategies.
12. Support a standard product methodology mindset, seek opportunities to re-use solutions, improve quality and reliability whilst reducing the delivery timeline and associated cost.
13. Take a leading role in development of Commissioning plans and HAZCOMM meetings.
14. To identify issues early and escalate to the project manager to agree mitigation measures.
About You
1. Engineering degree or equivalent technical knowledge/experience in control system migration projects within the process/water/utilities industries.
2. Proven experience of planning and driving engineering teams to meet challenging time-scales, budgets, and quality standards.
3. Take a pro-active approach to ensuring Health & Safety is paramount, including conducting Risk Assessments and Method Statements where necessary.
4. Strong customer interface experience.
5. Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage technical risks.
6. Proven skills in supervision of technical team with strong technical background.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills, experienced in creating and presenting technical reports and responding to clients' technical questions.
8. Ability to understand and communicate customer requirements, lead technical discussions with customers and delivery teams.
9. Proven track record of managing Control Systems engineering technical interfaces, software and hardware principles and requirements management.
10. Able to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality and engineering integrity of the solution.
11. Health and Safety & First Aid qualifications desirable.
