4 month contract (March 2024 start)
The purpose of the role is to carry out Business Testing processes, which are consistent with Pinnacle Pet Group’s Test Policy and Strategy, working with the Test Manager to ensure that efficient testing is delivered to the agreed quality standards.
• Deliver Business Testing for projects/portfolios to agreed time/budget/quality tolerances as laid down in business case, test strategies and commercial agreement with clients.
• Conduct test reviews (including Static testing) throughout the development lifecycle, to identify any artefacts that are not fit for purpose. Comply with the agreed test methodology and standards to ensure good governance and record keeping in line with Pinnacle Pet Group test principles and commercial interests.
• Provide input into defining the appropriate test approach in collaboration with the Test Manager to ensure effective Business Test preparation and execution is produced, which mitigates business risk.
• Own the creation of the Test deliverables (Test Plans, Test schedule, Test Reports etc) throughout the whole project lifecycle applying best practice testing principles to ensure cost effective testing whilst balancing business risk.
• Determine the adequate level of Business Test Coverage in collaboration with the Test Manager, Business Analysts and Business Users and provides input into the testing estimates.
• Perform Test Execution, involving leading business resources where required, as agreed in the UAT and raise defects on JIRA and retesting defect fixes when deployed to the test environments.
• Provide effective communication to Test Managers and Business users to support the smooth delivery of the test activity.
• Supports the Test Manager in defining the entry criteria to UAT and make recommendations at exit from UAT.
Key Responsibilities
Planning Stage
* Attend project / scrum meetings
* Raise risk & issues to the respective PMs & Prog Test Manager
* Analyse Test env requirements
* Organize engagement meetings with the test env leads
* Raise any necessary requests to test env leads (for e.g access/login requests)
* Assess any test env requirements for the testers/team (test desk, logins, devices etc)
* Perform static review of the design, technical documentation
* Create test plan (including timelines with clear breakdown of test activities) - our case timelines with breakdown of activities should be enough (don't need full Test plan as PTM is creating one)
* Create TTRM (Test to requirement matrix)
* Identify any training needs and highlight them to Prog Test Manager(PTM)
* Create test scripts and load them on JIRA
* Ramp up the test resource (new joiners and existing team)
* Make sure the entry criteria for entering SIT is met, if not highlight to the PTM and discuss any necessary waivers if required
* Setup the test team on JIRA
Execution stage - SIT
* Validate the test env and ensure it is fit for purpose
* Check the entry criteria for SIT and make sure it is met before commencing SIT (obviously PTM will be involved in all stages)
* Execute the test scripts
* Raise defects on JIRA and assign them to relevant dev teams
* Attend daily scrums for the respective workstream and represent test in the scrum meetings
* Retest defects, closely coordinate with dev teams
* Daily/weekly reports on test progress as agreed with PTM
* Produce a Test Exit Report once testing finishes and check the exit criteria is met (Format can be discussed with the PTM)
Execution stage - E2E/UAT
* Validate the test env and ensure it is fit for purpose
* Check the entry criteria for E2E and make sure it is met before commencing E2E (obviously PTM will be involved in all stages)
* Execute the test scripts
* Raise defects on JIRA and assign them to relevant dev teams
* Attend any relevant defect calls setup by PMs/PTM
* Retest defects, closely coordinate with dev teams
* Daily/weekly reports on test progress as agreed with PTM
* Coordinate with the UAT testers to ensure their questions are answered
* Help UAT team identify the E2E user journeys and create their test pack
* Help UAT teams gain access to the right test env
* Review UAT test packs
* Review UAT test exit report
* Produce a Test Exit Report which will feed into the overall Test Exit report for the entire programme produced by the PTM
* To act to deliver good outcomes for retail customers whilst delivering a higher standard of customer care and enabling consumers to make effective decisions in their interests
Successful Candidates Will Have
Key skills
• ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst certification or equivalent experience (Preferred not mandatory)
• Full understanding of a variety of test analysis techniques and their implementation
• Should have good knowledge of BDD, TDD, and automation tool sets and different test process and methodologies
• Full understanding of the creation and execution of test scripts
• Good understanding of the different drivers and needs of customers, distributors and partners
• Detailed Knowledge and understanding of systems and structures within Business Units
• Experience in at least 2 test methodologies (for example Waterfall, Agile, SAFe, Extreme) across multiple projects
• Experience in using a test tool to control scripting and execution of tests
• Experience in use of defect management tool
• Experience in use of a number of industry recognized test analysis techniques
• Experience in Financial Services Industry required, Insurance an advantage
• Understanding of test scheduling and working with business teams in implementing the execution for those schedules
