Job Title: Non-Qualified Art Teacher Location: Warwickshire Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Full-time, Term Time (190 contact days, 5 inset days) Salary: £21,940.92 per year About the Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and dedicated Non-Qualified Art Teacher to join a supportive and innovative educational setting for students aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). The role involves delivering engaging and creative Art lessons within a nurturing, “homely” environment designed to support small groups of students. The successful candidate will focus on building strong, trusting relationships with students, ensuring they feel secure, valued, and engaged in their learning. They will work closely with a team of professionals to help students reach their full potential and develop their academic, social, and personal skills in line with their individual plans. Key Responsibilities: • Plan and deliver creative Art lessons tailored to the specific needs and abilities of students. • Create a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages outdoor learning where appropriate. • Employ effective behaviour management and de-escalation techniques to help students manage autism-related behaviours. • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support for each student. • Mark and assess students’ work in accordance with the marking policy, providing constructive feedback to aid their development. • Contribute to the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students. • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the professional development of the team. • Ensure that all teaching practices comply with safeguarding procedures and relevant policies. Essential Experience and Skills: • Minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies, including de-escalation techniques. • Empathy and sensitivity to the unique needs of students with ASC. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including collaboration with parents and other professionals. • A passion for delivering creative, practical learning experiences, including outdoor learning. • Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) legislation and safeguarding procedures. Preferred Qualifications: • Team Teach or other safe handling qualifications. • First Aid certification. • Autism Level 1 & 2 qualifications (preferred but not essential).
