SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30, depending on experience)
⏰ Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time Only
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen. You will work with students aged 10-19 who have complex needs such as Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related conditions, providing crucial support to help them thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help deliver personalised learning activities, encouraging independence and positive behaviour, and ensuring every student reaches their potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the planning and assessment of lessons and learning activities.
* Provide regular updates on student progress and achievements.
* Monitor and report on individual students in line with school policies.
* Support positive behaviour management, adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
* Promote social, emotional, and personal development in students.
Skills and Qualifications
* Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for student transport).
* GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
* Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (preferred).
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
* Flexible and creative approach to supporting the unique needs of each student.
