If so, this could be the perfect role for you About the Role This highly rewarding yet challenging position is based in a special educational needs (SEN) school in Ely, Cardiff. You will work with secondary-aged pupils with severe learning difficulties, helping to create a positive and supportive learning environment. Unlike mainstream schools, class sizes are much smaller, allowing you to build meaningful connections and provide individualised support to students who need it most. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of ALN needs. Encourage independence and provide personal care support when required. Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive learning environment. Build strong relationships with students, parents, carers, and staff. Assist in lesson preparation and delivery, including therapeutic activities. Take part in sensory-based sessions, including soft play, rebound therapy, and hydrotherapy (bring your swimwear). Support pupils with severe learning difficulties, helping to provide the best possible school experience. Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have two or more of the following: ✅ A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred, but not essential). ✅ A good understanding of additional learning needs (ALN). ✅ Experience or willingness to learn different teaching strategies for students with complex learning needs. ✅ A kind, patient, and caring nature with a passion for supporting pupils. ✅ The ability to stay calm under pressure. ✅ A strong team player who can collaborate with others.
