Job Details: Job Reference: HCC620961 Salary Range: £26,918 - £29,616 per annum Work Location: Ash Lock Cottage, Aldershot Hours per week: 37 Contract Type: Permanent Closing Date: 11 May 2025 Interview Date: 6 June 2025 The Role: The Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership (BVCP) sits within the Hampshire County Council Countryside Service Team. We work closely with our local community to manage green spaces around the Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire borders on behalf of various landowners. BVCP improve access and biodiversity across a variety of habitats including river catchment, mixed woodland, heathland and wildflower meadows. With a strong ethos of nurturing volunteers and supporting colleagues, you’ll work both as part of a close-knit team and also with the wider HCC ranger team and our partner organisations. Your role will be to carry out a wide variety of practical conservation and maintenance. You will need to have wide experience in countryside work, e.g. habitat management, minor construction jobs, such as footbridges and fencing, dealing with contractors and experience of running and supporting volunteer groups. The role also includes site safety checks, species monitoring and contributing to social media. You will also be involved in the implementation, monitoring and up-dating management plans and budgets and recording the tasks and projects. With good interpersonal skills, you will be confident dealing with enquiries from site visitors, partners and volunteers. You will have the ability to work productively as part of a team as well as on your own initiative and have an awareness of statutory health and safety policies and other appropriate legislation. Having a flexible approach to work, you will be willing to work outdoors in all weathers both in a team and on your own. You will be able to undertake the physical requirements of the role, whilst being required to work some weekends and bank holidays. You will be required to drive a Council vehicle and must hold a current full drivers’ licence.
