Job summary Chew Medical Practice is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic GP to join our forward thinking, responsive and friendly team, to work 2 sessions per week on a Friday, starting in June 2025. Main duties of the job The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. About us We are committed to providing accessible, high quality primary care to our 10,500 patients, situated in the heart of the beautiful Chew Valley, but are conveniently only 13 miles from Bristol and Bath, both of which are easily commutable. We are a rural dispensing practice working out of our purpose built surgery, which opened in 2012. We are a training practice, teach all years of Bristol Medical students and contribute to national research projects. We enjoy our morning coffee break and lunch together, often with cake, which allows us to support each other, problem solve or simply chat about last nights TV. We are low visiting and our patients have excellent access with generally short wait times. Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers. Assess and manage the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Develop care plans in consultation with patients and in line with Practice disease management protocols. Provide counselling and health education. Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate, including making arrangements for emergency admission when required. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to best practice information governance standards. Collect data for clinical and administrative audit purposes. Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions. Prescribe in accordance with the CCG prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
