We are a leading independent provider of high-quality nursing and residential care, specialising in acquired brain injuries, neurological, mental health needs, learning and physical disabilities for persons over 18 years of age in addition to providing nursing, residential and social care for the elderly, based across the Northeast of England. OVERALL DUTIES OF THE POSITION You should ensure that you arrive at work sufficiently early to be ready to commence work at your official starting time. You must comply with any time recording procedures relating to your job. During the course of your employment appearance and manner are important in that you must always portray a professional image. The company will supply you with appropriate protective equipment relevant to the task at hand. If this is not available please ask for it to be supplied and/or obtain it before embarking upon the task. You are responsible for maintaining your protective equipment in a good and clean condition. At all times during your employment the needs of the business are paramount and you should ensure that at all times your efforts and energies are concentrated on achieving this objective. You are expected to conduct yourself in a reasonable manner with fellow employees, residents and members of the public. You are not permitted to disclose confidential information and/or internal matters relating to trading of the business to any person or organisation without the company's prior written consent. Please refrain from making any personal remarks or comments relating to residents/visitors/staff. Please comply with any reasonable instruction or request given to you by an authorised person. You must be flexible to work at various sites as requested, and accept training where necessary. Adaptability to quickly change as the needs and requirements of the company and position changes. MAIN TASKS OF THE POSITION You must determine a daily routine to inspect Careline Lifestyles premises for any situation that you feel may cause a Health and Safety hazard to staff and/or members of the public inside and outside the premises. Make a record of the situation and act upon it as soon as practicable ensuring that it is eliminated as soon as is reasonably possible. You must keep an electronic maintenance log to record all action undertaken. All tasks unless emergencies must be verified through the Manager. Careline Lifestyles premises must be inspected every day to check that all lights and in particular the bulbs are working properly. Gardens to be kept tidy and maintained. Yards are to be cleared of any debris and/or obstruction. Please maintain the fire exit areas especially in poor weather conditions so that they are safe as an area of ingress and egress. All superfluous debris should be flattened and disposed of. Hot water and heating systems to be checked. All regular painting jobs to be done, including 'touching up' areas. All drains and gutters to be inspected on a weekly basis. Maintain, inspect and organise the testing of all fire equipment, hoist, lifts, boilers, air conditioners and other local exhaust ventilation. The latter is not an exhaustive list and requires an inventory of all electrical and portable equipment to be kept. If you are unable to undertake these tasks yourself as you are not qualified to do so please identify them. A competent person will be organised to undertake such contractual work. Weekly fire drills to be carried out and all relevant findings to be recorded in the Fire Drill Log Book. All records are to be maintained regularly and any potential hazards to Health and Safety should be brought to the attention of the Administrator and/or Directors so that Risk Assessments can be carried out and the relevant preventative provisions and reviews undertaken. Any such reasonable duties as required.
